Privacy

The short version

This website does not track you. There is no analytics, no advertising, no third party measurement, and the site itself sets no cookies. There is nothing here to consent to, which is why you were not asked.

Nothing is collected about you personally unless you decide to contact me, book a call, or sign up for something. Those are the only points where you hand anything over, and each one is described below.

Who is responsible

This site is run by Samuel Odifa, working independently rather than through a company. If you have a question about anything on this page, or you want to know what I hold about you, email odifasamuel@gmail.com and it comes straight to me.

What happens automatically when you visit

Three things, all of them ordinary, and none of which identifies you by name.

• Hosting. This site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs: the address you requested, the time, your browser type, and your IP address. Every website on the internet produces this. It is used to keep the site online and to spot abuse, and I do not read it to build any picture of individual visitors.
• Images. Photographs and article images load from Sanity, which stores this site’s content. Delivering an image means the visitor’s IP address and browser reach Sanity in the same way they reach the host. A small number of link previews on the portfolio page load their images from the site that published the article, so the same applies to those publishers.
• The newsletter box on the home page. It is Substack’s own sign-up box running inside the page, so Substack sees your IP address and browser when it loads, and may set cookies of its own. It loads only if you scroll down far enough to reach it, and it appears on no other page. More on this below.

Cookies

This site sets none. You can check that for yourself: the pages return no cookie at all, which is why there is no banner asking you to accept anything.

Two other companies can, through things running inside these pages, and neither is this site setting them.

Cal.com, if you go to use a booking button, which means hovering over it, tabbing to it, or touching it. The calendar starts loading at that point so it is ready by the time you click rather than making you wait. If you never go near a booking button, Cal.com is never loaded and sets nothing.

Substack, through the newsletter sign-up box near the foot of the home page. That one is not a choice in the same way: it loads if you scroll down to it, whether or not you subscribe. It is on the home page only.

Booking a call

Booking runs on Cal.com. When you click a booking button, the calendar opens in a window on top of this page rather than sending you elsewhere, but the booking itself still happens on Cal.com’s system, under Cal.com’s privacy policy as well as this one.

Nothing from Cal.com loads when a page opens. It starts loading the moment you go to use a booking button, by hovering over it, tabbing to it, or touching it, so the calendar is ready when you click instead of keeping you waiting. If you never go near one, your browser never contacts Cal.com at all.

When you do book, whatever you enter, typically your name, email address, time zone and any notes, goes to Cal.com and to me so that the meeting can happen.

The other ways to reach me

Each of these is a separate service with its own privacy policy. Apart from the newsletter box described below, none of them runs inside this site, so clicking takes you to them and nothing is shared until you are there and choose to submit something.

• The written question form runs on Tally. What you type in it reaches me by email.
• The newsletter runs on Substack, and the sign-up box near the foot of the home page is Substack's own, running inside this page rather than being a link to it. That means Substack receives your IP address and browser details when that box loads, whether or not you subscribe, and it may set its own cookies. It loads only when you scroll far enough down the home page to reach it, and it is on no other page. Subscribing gives Substack your email address, and you can unsubscribe from any issue.
• Free resources are delivered through Gumroad, which handles the download and anything you enter to get it.
• Email reaches me directly, with no service in between beyond the mail providers on each end.

What I do with what you send

I use it to reply to you, to run the call you booked, and to deliver work if we end up working together. Client work generates the ordinary records any working relationship generates, and I keep those for as long as the relationship and my own records require.

I do not sell your information, I do not share it for advertising, and I do not add you to a mailing list because you booked a call or sent a question. Signing up for the newsletter is a separate decision you make on purpose.

What you can ask for

Depending on where you live, data protection law may give you the right to ask what I hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to get a copy, or to object to how it is used. I will honour those requests wherever you are, rather than checking first whether your country makes me.

Email odifasamuel@gmail.com and say what you want done. If the information sits with one of the services above rather than with me, I will tell you which one and how to reach them.

Children

This site sells professional services to businesses and is not intended for children. I do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 16.

Changes to this page

If the site starts doing something it does not do today, for example adding analytics, this page gets updated before that ships rather than after. The date at the top tells you when it last changed.
